Big ideas are only as powerful as the people who make them real.
Meet Mel, Mission Control at Moonshot
Every company and ambition endeavor needs a Mission Control. For us at Moonshot, that’s Mel, our newest team member. She’s joined our team in a big way, as our producer, senior project manager—and one of the key operational leads here at Moonshot.
If a creative agency is a rocket ship—full of wild ideas, tight timelines, and a dozen moving parts—then Mel is the one keeping it all calibrated, aligned, and on course. Her official title is Producer, but around here, she’s also Mission Control: the steady voice in the headset, the one syncing creative and strategy, managing momentum, and making sure we don’t just launch, but land.
In film, a Producer is the person who takes the vision and makes it real—guiding the process, wrangling the details, holding the team together from pre-production to premiere. At Moonshot, Mel plays that same role. She makes sure each project moves with purpose, that our clients feel supported at every step, and that big ideas don’t just stay ideas—they become brands that move people.
What are some of the philosophies you bring that make you so successful in the role of Mission Control and client-facing Producer?
I truly believe people do their best work when they’re given the space to operate in their zone of genius. My role is about removing roadblocks and keeping things moving so everyone on the team can focus their energy where it matters most.
I’ve always been someone who sees both the big picture and the fine details, and I love connecting the two. I can take a vision and immediately start mapping out how to make it real, step by step, without losing sight of what makes it special.
I’m also deeply empathetic. I care about how people feel in the process, not just what gets delivered at the end. At the same time, I’m relentless when it comes to creativity and problem-solving. Challenges energize me, and I thrive on turning ideas into something tangible and impactful.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by people and experiences that expand my perspective. Travel has always been a huge part of my life. Whether it was living abroad in Germany, exploring city streets in Japan, or walking on a beach in St. Maarten, stepping into unfamiliar places and cultures sparks new ideas and reminds me how big and interconnected the world really is.
Music inspires me in a similar way. It’s been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve played music, studied its theory, and gone down countless rabbit holes learning how my favorite albums were produced. The passion of great musicians, producers, and writers continues to leave me in awe.
I’m also drawn to people who create with both their hands and hearts: chefs, makers, and anyone who can transform ideas into something magical. More broadly, I’m inspired by anyone who pursues their passion with the goal of making the world a kinder, more beautiful place. Even when the world feels chaotic, that kind of hope and determination is incredibly powerful.
Why did you join Moonshot?
I joined Moonshot because I wanted to immerse myself in the creative space again and land somewhere ideas, design, and storytelling come together to help brands truly come to life. When I first saw Moonshot’s work, I was blown away by its creativity and originality. The visual design was stunning, but it was also strategic, thoughtful, and inspiring.
What really sealed it for me was the team. Their expertise is unmatched, and their passion is contagious. We’re not just executing projects. We’re building something meaningful while helping others build missions that matter.
I’ve always poured myself fully into the things I care about. I’d call it a healthy obsession. I believe in doing work that feels alive. Moonshot embodies that spirit, and joining the team felt like the perfect alignment of values, vision, and creative energy. I’m so grateful to be here.
What skills or talents do you have that most people don't know about?
I’ve got a pretty random collection of hidden talents. For starters, I can juggle, which is not exactly useful in meetings, but it’s a great party trick.
Though I’m a bit rusty, I can still hold my own in German and French. And outside of work, I make a mean eggs Benedict. My hollandaise sauce has been known to impress even the toughest at-home critics.
Honestly, I know a little about a lot of things—mostly nonsense—but it comes in handy more often than you’d think.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be just about everything. I was the kid who tried it all—sports, dance, art, music—and every new interest felt like a whole new world to explore. I’d constantly dream up ‘what ifs.’ What if I became a lawyer? Or a painter? Or a symphony conductor? At one point, I even considered becoming a mycologist who traveled the world discovering new mushroom species.
The real story is that I’ve always been endlessly curious and willing to deep-dive into whatever grabs my attention. I love learning how things work, whether that’s a plant, a business, a piano, or a sourdough starter. That curiosity is still how I operate today. I immerse myself fully in every project, every role, and every challenge.
