Moonshot Crew Log: Our must-have summer gear guide

At Moonshot, we put as much passion into client work as we do into chasing our next outdoor adventure. We work hard and play hard. By day, we’re building brands and helping bring big ideas to life. But we also pour the same energy into our off time when we’re hitting the road, and heading outside to reset, recharge, and stay inspired.

And, we’re straight up gear heads. This summer, our team has been in a steady rhythm of client projects and outdoor fun, so we felt compelled to share some of the favorite gear that fuels our wild side. Everything on this list is trail-tested, mud-covered, and proven to keep you dry, fueled, moving, and feeling good.

Lauren Lee Anderson

Big Agnes Blacktail Hotel 3 Tent

Welcome to the hotel room for a 5 billion star night’s stay. This 3-season backpacking tent has an extendable vestibule for storing your gear and goods just outside your sleeping quarters for a night under the stars. Get a little extra room without the bulk and weight of car camping tents and it’s extra perfect if you’re a dog mom like me.

Solomon Speedcross 6

Technically trail running shoes, but amazing for any walking or hiking through the summer. Burly treads and the classic laceless Solomon pull strings. They fit like a glove, are easy to slip on and can handle almost any terrain that doesn’t require a serious hiking boot. I recommend the Gore-Tex version so you can run through mud puddles and creeks to your heart’s desire with dry feet.

LMNT Zero-Sugar Electrolytes

Who doesn’t need extra hydration all the time, especially as our planet gets warmer each year? I’ve tried all the water enhancements and these salty electrolytes are truly the best. Sodium (nature’s OG electrolyte), potassium, magnesium, only natural flavoring and always sugar free, these packets help with hydration and muscle recovery. I sprinkle in my water throughout the day as a whole packet in a single bottle can be quite…salty. Mango chili flavor is my favorite!

Sound Burger

In a nutshell: the Sound Burger AT-SB727 is a delightful blend of retro style and present-day convenience. It doesn’t pretend to replace high-end tables, but it’s honestly more fun than a lot of them, simply because it wants to be taken to parties, parks, or perched in the corner of your tiny apartment. It’s charming, clever, and despite its quirks, totally gets what portable vinyl joy is all about.

Fuji X100vi

My EDC camera of choice when I don’t want to deal with a full backpack of lenses and I’m just looking for a casual street/editorial looking snap. Playing with the “film recipes” is always a fun time, too.

Ninja Creami

We just recently got this ice cream maker and it’s been a big hit with the kids, and lots of exploring on frozen treats yet to come.

Mel Erdman

Turtlebox Ranger Speaker

This is the ultimate tagalong speaker for music-obsessed people like me. I always need a soundtrack, so I bring this with me when camping, floating, or hanging with friends. It’s durable, totally waterproof, magnetic, and sounds incredible. 10/10.

Patagonia Guidewater Backpack

I don’t claim to be any good at fishing, but I do try to look cool while doing it. This backpack is such a lifesaver when I’m on the river. It’s fully submersible and keeps everything dry and safely stowed. Tons of room, lots of versatility, and made by a brand I really admire.

Goodr Sunglasses

These are my absolute favorite sunglasses I’ve ever owned – and they’re only $35. Not only has Goodr mastered the inexpensive, polarized, no-slip sunglasses game, but they dominate when it comes to silly, catchy, and colorful branding and marketing. My go-to pair is called: “Amelia Earhardt Ghosted Me”.

Supergoop Glowscreen SPF 40

I love being in the sun as much as possible, but the sun doesn’t always love me back. I apply this sunscreen everyday, whether I’m just running errands around town or I’m hiking all day in the Tobacco Roots. This stuff stays put while giving me a glowy, dewy look. I wear it as a daily makeup primer and bring it with me on all my outdoor adventures.

BYLT Pulse Pullover Drop-cut Hoodie

This is my go-to top, perfect for almost any occasion. The drop-cut bottom hem adds a stylish touch, giving this hoodie a slightly more casual vibe rather than athletic look.

Camper Peu Pista Boot

There are two footwear brands I rely on for everyday use: New Balance and Camper. The Camper Peu Boot (available in various styles) is hands down the most comfortable and versatile boot I’ve ever worn. Its wide footbed offers exceptional comfort, and the zip-up ankle design makes slipping them on and off a breeze.

LEGO Speed Champions BMW M4 GT3 & BMW M Hybrid V8 Race Cars

As a self-proclaimed LEGO fanatic (seriously, I have a real problem) and a BMW enthusiast, it doesn’t get any better than when my two passions collide (see what I did there?). Growing up building model cars, the LEGO Speed Champions racing sub-theme perfectly satisfies that nostalgia for me.

Alyssa Gonzalez

Swift Industries Zeitgeist

This was one of my first bike bags. I’ve put it through the ringer and it’s still going strong. It also fits so much in it, so it’s perfect for around town or bikepacking.

Bedrock Sandals Mountain Clog

I wear these clogs bikepacking, at work, and on walks to the coffee shop…pretty much everywhere. They’re comfy and durable, and have a vibram sole so you’re ready for whatever your day throws at you.

Rollbahn Spiral Notebook

Great color ways. Nice paper weight. 10/10 notebook.

Elwood Oversized Core Crewneck

Might be the comfiest sweater ever. The more you wear it, the more it “ages” like vintage clothing.

Yorckh Jacome

Posca Pen

I use them for artistic purposes, but they are very practical. They are acrylic paint markers. I've tried several brands, and I stick with these. They have a great variety of colors, and I really like their quality and versatility.

Oru Haven Kayak

My mother in law gave us this one. It’s really cool, fits well in the car, and stores perfectly. You can set it up in less than 10 minutes. One more fun thing about this one is that you can swap it into a two or one person kayak! We’ve been using it on lakes and it’s great.
